Want to learn how to make your own dip net, just in time for fish camp? Led by net making experts, you’ll enjoy learning this lost art and, when you’re done, have a net of your very own. Bring your lunch and join us at Shaa-xu’-xat (Rowdy Creek Park) on these dates:
Saturday May 31: Meet at Prince Island Court
10:00 am – 4:00 pm: Poles: Wood collection and splitting demonstration
Sunday June 1: NOTICE – This class will be held at the Tribal office on 140 Rowdy Creek Rd.
10:00 am – 4:00 pm: Poles: Shaping and carving
Saturday June 7: Shaa-xu’-xat (Rowdy Creek Park)
10:00 am – 4:00 pm: Nets: Tutorial on net making, mending and knots.
Sunday June 8: Shaa-xu’-xat (Rowdy Creek Park)
10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Nets: Hanging the net and final construction. Potluck.
Space is limited and class is open to all male tribal youth and adults. Youth under 15 years of age, must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided for those that RSVP.
