The 27th Annual HAWC Walk
August 25, 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM PDT
The 27th Annual HAWC Walk is scheduled for Saturday, August 25 at Potawot Health Village. Registration starts at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 12:00 noon. This a great activity for the whole family and we hope that you might be able to come and spend the day with us! We are in need of volunteers to help with set up, clean up, registration, and serving food. If you can come and help out that would be GREAT!!! Potluck items are also needed as we do provide lunch. We will be providing sandwiches, green salad and fresh fruit. Side dishes are always welcomed. There are volunteer sign-up sheets and potluck sign-up sheets at the Administration Window (Marian Seidner’s Desk) at Potawot. If you are in an outlying area, just drop Ryan Matteri, Fitness Coordinator, a note by email and he would be happy to add your name to the list of volunteers and/or list of potluck food items.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in activities such as walking, running, and visiting health screening and health education booths. These booths will include blood sugar checks, blood pressure checks, diabetes prevention, nutrition education, suicide prevention, dental education, garden starts, and numerous community social service information. If your program would like a table for boothing, please let Ryan Matteri know and he will reserve a spot for you.
Our theme this year is “Meaningful Healing” and this year’s keynote present is Jeffrey Proulx, PhD. Dr. Proulx is an American Indian PhD health psychologies with a focus on the effects of stress and stress reduction programs. Dr. Proulx is a trained mindfulness instructor. Children’s activities will be provided during the keynote presentation. After the keynote presentation participants will enjoy a potluck lunch and we will have a drawing for prizes.
I am attaching a flyer. Please print it out and give to others, post it, or share with others through e-mail. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ryan Matteri.
