CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION PLANNING COURSE
The Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals from Northern Arizona University recently held a Climate Change Adaptation Planning course that took place at the Bishop Paiute Cultural Center in Bishop, CA, and included presentations, individual and group exercises, talking circles, and a field trip on the reservation and nearby mountains. A big Shu’ shaa nin-la to our hosts, the Bishop Paiute Tribe, for their wonderful support and generosity in hosting the course, as well as the instructors and participants, who helped make the course a success. Twenty-one tribal professionals from sixteen tribes in California, Nevada, and Oregon participated in the training. The course was attended by our Marine Biologist, Rosa Laucci, and the knowledge gained in this valuable training will be utilized by staff as we prepare for climate change.
