CDPH WARNS CONSUMERS NOT TO EAT BIVALVE SHELLFISH CAUGHT IN HUMBOLDT AND DEL NORTE COUNTIES
Please be advised of the attached health warning regarding harvesting shellfish. The Ocean Governance team has been submitting mussel samples to the California Dept of Public Health for analysis of biotoxins. Recently domoic acid (DA) has been on the rise, but still below alert levels, however the most recent sample came back with a high level of DA.
Please be careful if you are harvesting mussles and other bivalve shellfish as they will be toxic. We will continue to send samples in and let you know of any change in the levels.
